Wanaree's hinged metal box tutorial

I came across this video a while ago and bookmarked it so I can share it with you guys. Although this class is for metal clay artists you may find some of the ideas shown here useful with your polymer clay work.
Wanaree Tanner is documenting the creation of a "Gallery Box": a kinetic, hinged metal clay box with interchangeable tiles. Makes me think again about trying metal clay...polymer rocks! ;)

Yvi's FIMO tree ornaments

Now that the holidays are getting closer, here is an idea for a tree ornament! Take a look at Austrian artist Yvi`s (Yvonne) Torten & Tortenfiguren flickr gallery, it's full of cute sculpturing including themed figures for various occasions. Some made of suger/cakes paste and some made of fimo clay.
These little figures sitting on top of a round clay ball (or is it a glass ball?) I love the little purple one with it's turning head...

How to create a simple snow globe

Another tutorial I found online is by Ivanna, a Russian mix-media artist who teaches how to create a snow globe of a snowman. All you need a spices glass jar (the one we use to put paprika and other "polymer inclusions") and make your own snow globe!

Moving to another thing -This lemon bag is something. I found it in Teia Fetescu blog and had to take another look. Teia is so funny and writes so well! The story starts with a dog called lemon who started to loose it's baby teeth, Her friend came up with an idea to incorporate them into a clay piece to preserve them so he made a lemon head around a metallic tea strainer and used Lemon’s tooth for the face. When it was ready he used it a scented bag in his car. What was surprising to Teia is that the teeth were not oven proof! they cracked while baking! A bit funny - don't you think? This is such an original idea I had to share with you!

I'm home! Italy was wonderful! a little bit rainy on the beginning but after that the weather was great - Milano, Florence and Tuscany, Venice, Murano, Ferrari Museum (plus a real ride on a Ferrari car!), Piza, San Gimignano, Siena, Roma - an amazing trip and an amazing birthday!

But's it's always good to be back home :)

Home Blessings - New stuff :)

In Israel, almost every family hangs a Home blessing.
It can be a Hamsa (5 finger hand) or a different shape but it's a very popular ornament.

The prayer's written in Hebrew or in English and asking for peace, love and happiness for the home tenants. Most of us hang it near the main door, to protect our home and family from bad luck and the evil eye.

I love making those unique home blessing wall ornaments, they are a perfect gift!
