Polymeri Online 10.2.13 | Tectonic bangles, Filigree patience, Polymer "Valen-Tins", Domed heart pendants and Illuminated smiley purses

Techtonic Polymer Clay
Have you seen Izabela Nowak's latest Tectonic bangles? I was open mouthed! So unique! Izabela is always keeping us intrigued by her beautiful designs and ooak innovations. Don't miss her "tectonic" pendants as well, it's "Earth-Quaking"...

Filigree Polymer Clay Tutorial

Marusic said she promised a master class on making filigree and she is keeping her promises (yay!) tedious - yes, time consuming - yes, but not difficult. All you'll need for this project is clay in two colors, liquid clay, cutting tool (knife, blade, etc.), toothpicks, needle and metal powders (and lot's of spare time!)
Another similar design of this delicate, tiny art form was posted in Sage Bray's blog featuring Olga Shukova. Admirable.

"Valen-Tins"

MaryAnne posted lovely tin covers especially for Valentines, she calls it "Valen-tins" :) Playing with textures and colors is common in her flickr gallery, Jewelry, journals, beads. don't miss her beautiful looking bracelet
and bangles.

Valentine's Heart Pendant Tutorial

Here is a fun tutorial by Becky from "PoshPinkGiraffe" for heart pendants for Valentines, using the Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to create a domed effect. This material is definitely worth checking, I'll have to look for it when I am in USA next week.

4 days to my trip and I am finalizing my preparations with one final experiment, a glowing smiley purse (without glow in the dark clay) using translucent clays and tiny illumination. These can be so cool as atmosphere lights, hanging around the house, in case of loss of power (Beware Nemo Blizzard!) or even as Christmas tree ornaments!
Keep your fingers crossed for me that Nemo won't come back....
I am not sure posting in my blog will be possible while I am traveling, so you are welcome to follow me on FaceBook.
See you in another continent!

Polymeri Online 20.12.11 | Christmas & Hannuka, Poinsettia cane tutorial, Lemon's teeth, Crochet "finger" and Christmas tree ornament tutorial

Everywhere I go online I see Christmas or Hannuka designs and ideas, dreidels, Christmas ornaments, menorahs - Festive and holiday-ish! :) Here is another decor celebration by CrazyKwilter made with the Stroppel cane,

and Filigree decorations by Amber Elledge

Gifts, decorations - Lot's of preperations for the holidays! I hope you're not too exhausted!
Another holiday themed project is offered in Sandy's blog - A Poinsettia cane tutorial
I also loved her idea for the Flower variegated cane tutorial -

Moving to another thing -This lemon bag is something. I found it in Teia Fetescu blog and had to take another look. Teia is so funny and writes so well! The story starts with a dog called lemon who started to loose it's baby teeth, Her friend came up with an idea to incorporate them into a clay piece to preserve them so he made a lemon head around a metallic tea strainer and used Lemon’s tooth for the face. When it was ready he used it a scented bag in his car. What was surprising to Teia is that the teeth were not oven proof! they cracked while baking! A bit funny - don't you think? This is such an original idea I had to share with you!

And last, more related to the previous holiday - Halloween - take a look at this polymer "finger" crochet hook by Marlene Brady. It's so funny! She almost fooled me! :)

Really last - I am reminding you about my free Christmas tree ornament tutorial offered in YouTube -

Have a great Hannuka and a Merry Christmas!

Polymeri Online 18.3.11

Amber Elledge working with polymer clay since age 11, but still discovers new things every time she picks up a block (like all of us, I guess). She makes unique and fun pieces that are also useful. Her favorite technique is "filigree", a process of coiling, placing and cutting individual strands of clay by hand.

Kristie B Kristie-Lou is a full time artist with a split personality. Her two passions include creating wire wrapped jewelry and polymer clay faces. She never knows what the day will bring and let her hands guide the way.
I've stumbled across Anna Shchelkunova flickr gallery and loved this pendant! the mix of flowers, coiled clay and the pearl look was so nice and delicate.
Here is more of her interesting pieces made into beads

Katrin Joonas from Estonia posted a magical poppy pendant with a necklace inspired by Estonia's ethnic embroidery. She is using Premo! Sculpey, Sculpey Ultralight & Sculpey III, Acrylic paint, brown antiquing medium & glossy glaze

Polymeri Online 27.6.10

Milica Bubanja from Slovenia uses various materials – polymer clay, silver clay, felt, cotton, synthetic sap and semi precious stones. She often makes her own tools (e.g., carved stamps and textures) as well as metal parts, which adds to the uniqueness.

Designing and making jewellery is a passion for Debbie Carlton, she works with silver, gold and likes to incorporate colour into her work when ever she can. Her inspirations come from the shapes ,textures and colours she sees all around her from nature's quirkiness to industrial symmetry.

claycorner / Teia Fetescu from Switzerland along with Mario Hubak started working with polymer clay in 2002, they make beads, jewelry, figurines and other objects.

Warren and RobbinMoeller-Smith7 are sailing artisans that have lived with people around the world, especially central and south America. Their art reflects this influence of making beautiful things from environment. Their Filigree Bracelet bangles are so colorful!

Polymeri Online 16.12.09

Polymeri Online is today instead of tomorrow. Tomorrow i am taking a day off to hang out with family on Hannuka holiday, we are going to see the "Bodies" exhibition which is in Israel too. I've seen it in New-York but my kids didn't yet, i'm sure this will be a real experience for them.

Deco4bee (Rivka) from Israel always had her unique style of making polymer clay work. Look at her filigree dreidels and other designs.

Tania Podoleanu, another dear friend from Israel has came up with a great idea for making bracelets beads with no holes - she simply glue her tile beads to felt and this way she gets a clean look, no stringing, no holes and the feeling of felt on her hand is nice too.
