Polymeri Online 16.9.13 | Winning Mokume-Utensils, Horses-acrylic-polymer Trio, Pressed flower beads tutorial, Shiny vessels and Crazy clown earrings

First batch of September's holidays is over, second is still ahead, so between family gatherings, traditional feasts and other activities I am finding some time for PolymeriOnline posts.

Check out Rebekah Payne's tutorial for antiqued pressed flower beads. Rebekah is using polymer clay and molds to create these beautiful beads, her molds seem to be handmade but I am not 100% sure about that, I think you can create similar molds by using leaves from your back yard and embed them inside Mold maker, silicon base or even scrap clay.
Rebekah was mentioned in PolymeriOnline blog in April 2011, then, with her lovely heart pendant.
The Art Jewelry Elements blog is written by several contributors so you may want to look around to find more treasures.

Caren's TRIO - polymer-horses-acrylic
Caren Goodrich is a lifelong artist. She paints horses in acrylic and also work in metal clay and polymer clay. These beauties are her horses meeting polymer clay, she did these with a very thin, watercolor-like application of acrylic paint and used a coat of liquid polymer as a sealer. According to her this kind of work is much more time consuming than her paper canvas painting....

Helen's Utensiles

Helen Hughes posted a beautiful set of utensils made of translucent mokume gane stack. She won Polyform's August Make-It-Your-Own contest.
Helen is enjoying her time in sculpturing as well and her Etsy store is all ready for Halloween!

Beefball Bowls
Beefball Papa's work looks and feels like glass & polymer clay all together.
In her perfect finish she creates a smooth and shiny piece which makes you wonder what these bowls are made of or if she places her canes are on the inside of outside....
Her mixed canes and patterns, looks wonderful.
She is from China, Beijing and I hope we will see more of her art.

Crazy Clown earrings by Maddalena
Last is a colorful example of a very easy technique for mixing straps of clay to achieve a happy design.
Maddalena Gianni posted these earrings in her flickr and she calls them "crazy clown" design. She is from Piza Italy (Yay! been there!) and it seems that at the moment millefiori canes are her passion.

Polymeri Online 3.2.13 | PatchWork polymer tutorial, Clay flowers, Birdie meets her real sister, Anything is possible magnet and my new Long Neck Karen necklaces

Polymer Clay PatchWork Tutorial
My dear friend klavdija posted a wonderful pictorial for her patchwork jewelry. This is a beautiful technique which will tickle your fingers to go ahead and try it. I know I will!
Thank you dear friend!

Clay flowers
Natasha can not imagine her life without creativity and search (can't agree more). Her artistic love is devoted to flowers and stones, their incredible colors, shades and textures.
Her clay flowers are made of Japanese polymer clay which I think called Deco clay. Barrettes, rings and jewelry - looks so real, you can hardly believe it's clay.

Polymer birdie meet her real sister
Mina Creations - Chieko Sasaki, living in Tokyo Japan, works with glass and well as polymer clay - miniatures, canes and sculpturing. I stumbled across her little birds photo on Facebook, polymer bird meets a real one - or is it the other way around? Anyway, she says she is glad that her real bird appreciates art and welcomed the new friend. :)

Anything is possible magnets
Joy Magnet Art is all dedicated to message magnets, each is like a miniature "collage in clay". Pieces of clay are torn into "fragments", and impressed with stamps and other objects for interesting designs. Most pieces have several layers of clay, with various inspirational words and positive sayings. Anything Is Possible :)

Remember these?
Well, they turn into these.
After using metal rings between the beads, they look more like the Long Neck Karen women, don't you think?
I am almost ready for my trip next week.

Polymer clay purses
While working on my new sample purses for CFCF 2013, I found this great link - The girls from "Parole de Pate" made a purses challenge among themselves, this time, not a miniature - it's a real size bag mostly made of polymer clay, additional materials are allowed. They did a fabulous work!
http://paroledepate.canalblog.com/archives/2012/12/04/25727648.html

Polymer clay box
and another purse-box item made by Liz and Frog, beautiful created, those fine details! People think I have the patience to work with tiny pieces but I think Liz deserves a medal!
Don't miss her super cool "I'm so sexy" millefiori cane

Joyous Necklace!
VeruDesign joyous necklace reminded me of my recent Extruder experiments, these wrapped beads create such a fun piece!
VeruDesign is Veruschka, the creator of beautiful one-of-a-kind polymer clay jewelry, she is a Bolivian girl, raised in Germany and Bolivia. Her flickr site is full of color and movement - love it.

Polymeri Online 13.12.12 | Christmas earrings, decorations, ornaments and jewelry, Skyscraper in ThePolymerArts Blog

Christmas is a minute away and the web is full of wonderful creations. It is only natural that the perfect material to create wonderful gifts, pins, jewelry and tree ornaments will be polymer clay!

Santa
APieceofLisa - Lisa J. Ammerman started her creations over 40 years ago when she was a child. After graduation, she discovered polymer clay and was immediately hooked, she started making jewelry pieces and a few Christmas ornaments, did a few craft shows with mixed results, but she knew she had to stick with it. The following year she started making miniature figurines and expanded her Christmas line to limited edition ornaments and slowly gathering her fans. Good luck Lisa!
Polymer Clay Earrings
HugsKissesMINI - Ada Kalomoiri is a polymer clay artist from Athens, Greece, this is her version of Christmas candy cane earrings with gingerbread! I love the a-symmetric design! She is specializing in miniature food for food "addicts" and jewelry lovers.
Antiqued Santa!

Carla is a full-time medical secretary, mom of 2 teenagers (oh my!) and self-taught polymer clay artist specializes in making little wearable works of art in her free time. Here is another version of Santa, antiqued but looks younger then ever...

Personalized Bears Decoration

Debi Allison personalized Christmas ornaments are SO CUTE! Take a look at this one - a Belly bear family of 5 in woody wagon carrying a tree - Deb is a known figure in the polymer clay world, both she and her cat (crazy Felix) are celebrities in her numerous YouTube videos, and according to her, her husband is also her helper. She is sharing some of her techniques in her videos, don't miss it!

Skyscraper Polymer Tutorial
Almost forgot, Thank you Sage Bray for mentioning my Skyscraper necklace in your blog! It was few weeks ago but still much appreciated!

P.S - Last 48 hours for your "Extrudinary" Savings!

Polymeri Online 9.11.12 | Need 4 speed polymer, No calories donuts, Texturing with a pen, Waffle tutorial and Christmas ornaments inspiration

Polymer clay fish on a wooden base
Dawn Stubitsch is a polymer clay artist who specializes in unique wedding cake toppers made from photos and in the image of the customers.  She is also a talented sculpture and is using carved wood block, covering it with clay to create amazing pieces. This fish car is hollow to allow for the weight of the clay. Take a look at the rest of her car collection, her flickr is so colorful and fun - http://www.flickr.com/photos/7192684@N04/

Polymer clay donuts / Hannuka Sufganiot
Hanukah is coming and it's time for donuts or as we call it in Hebrew - "Sufganiot". This treat is offered only in this holiday and isn't available in my country at the rest of the year. Here is a cute tutorial for making it, without the calories.

Texturing with a pen
Texture with a pen? In this tutorial kalin kapolinka is creating a texture by tracing a drawing with a pen onto the clay, this way creating an indentation in the clay to create a texture - Cool! Tutorial in Russian but photos are self explanatory

polymer clay waffle tutorial
A metal tool is all that you will need to create a polymer clay waffle!
In this devianart tutorial Kyandi-charms is creating a simple and fast waffle ornament you can use in your jewelry (earrings?) or any other collection

Polymer clay Christmas tree ornaments
Pinterest is wonderful place to get into but probably not possible to get out! So much inspiration and ideas!

Polymeri Online 31.10.12 | Healing polymer clay, 25 favorite list, Curved blade and Michaels 146 clay projects

Polymer clay Sculpture by Antonia
Midnight orange is D. Antonia's polymer clay shop. She was living on her own since she was 16 years old and at the time was literally a starving artist. Still in high school and working 20 hours a week, she found she couldn't pay her bills so began making simple beaded necklaces that were sold at the cafeteria lunch tables.
On 2009 she discovered clay, aiming to capture humanity, feelings and emotion, she saw her pieces touch people. This was her greatest reward. Her sculptures are now used by therapists in places around the world as part of the healing process.
Every artist can relate to her message - "Whether I earn one dollar or one hundred dollars off a piece of my artwork, the ability to make someone laugh, cry, or heal is by far the most humbling and extraordinary payment I could ever have hoped to receive." I wish Antonia all the luck in the world, a true inspiring story.

Polymer clay curved blade

Why won't we make ourselves a new tool? km-bijou.eu is sharing her way of creating a curved blade.
This webpage refused to be translated by any of my translators but looking at the pictures I am guessing we have to drill the blade and use a nut of a bolt to secure it? Hope I understood correctly.

Polymer clay pumpkin tutorial
Last one is Michaels projects page, containing new tutorials for clay. Choose the "clay crafting" section on your left and you will see 146 projects to choose from. I liked the mixed media pumpkin project using Premo Clay. The project was demonstrated by Syndee Holt. Some of the projects are made with air dry, fimo or other clays.

Yes, I know it's been a while, I did not forget my PolyPediaOnline duties and I am currently working on a new class, as usual it is a big project. My vocals are off at the moment (Hoarse? is that the word?) so thank god I do not have to do recordings otherwise I wouldn't recognize my own voice. Hopefully the new class will be online toward the end of the November or sooner. Thank you for asking how I am doing :) I appreciate it.

This Saturday is my 41st birthday (and my daughter's is celebrating her 16th), I am hosting a festive noon party, any ideas for tasty beverages? ;)
Take care you all, especially the folks in the eastern side of US...

1 FIMO Symposium, 4 Teachers, 70 Students and 140 half Hemispheres - The 1st FIMO Inspiration Symposium in Staedtler's headquarters

How often do you spend 72 hours with 12 nations polymer clay artists and play with clay?

Students Brocade Collection Purses
The 1st FIMO inspiration took place in Staedtler's headquarters in Nuremberg, Germany will be remembered as a wonderful weekend.
Play with clay? we sure did, and we got behind the scenes tours to see FIMO production line, writing instruments and it was beyond my expectations.
Staedtler's team - Mr. Nils Henssen and Mrs. Gerlinde Karg along with dedicated Staedtler's people put together an amazing event. No other words can describe it.

Staedtler's main room
The first day started with an opening gathering, we had  a chance to meet all 70 students coming from 12 nations, along with my collogues teachers - Sarah Shriver, Sabine Backer and Bettina Welker.
A warm (and tasty) welcome and off we went to our intensive 3 in 1: One day - Three tours.
Glass display cubes showing teacher's work

The first stop was Staedtler's pencils production line, did you know That Staedtler people play with canes in their pencils?
Going through endless colored and graphite pencils, markers and pens - makes you want to grab several and do some drawings!
Big storage warehouses

Huge machines, micro technology, smart production are only a part of this fascinating process (sorry, no photos were allowed...).
Packaging is brilliant as well, we've been inside huge warehouses where computers are running all stocks, building a box of all "ingredients" of an order starting from 1 item to thousands.
At this age where writing is done with our keyboard and printers, its great to see that colored pencils and pencils are still so popular, important and valuable, the look of all these colorful pencils immediately made me want to sketch.

Guided tour in production factories
Next stop was the FIMO production in Neumarkt, 20 minutes by bus from the headquarters - huge mixers with colorful piles of FIMO, like colorful yummy sugar paste. Machines creating blocks for the entire world! Unbelievable. The clay is molded into portions and packaged in small packages - 100 packages per minute!
We could not resist not to touch the endless clay piles and got ourselves  small leftovers to play with while walking around.
Old City of Nurnberg

Last tour was a "medieval style" city tour in old Nurnberg, walking around the old city at night and listening to ancient stories about battles, Napoleon and old ages celebrities.

We ended up the day in a lovely restaurant eating traditional cuisine and headed to bed to have our beauty sleep just before we start a new day.

Evening dinner at the
Museum of Industrial Culture
Thursday morning started with workshops, workshops and more workshops, I gave my popular Brocade Collection purse workshop and each student created his/her own wonderful purse - start to finish. 2 workshops a day, fresh beverages flowing and pampering, great lunch and then in the evening a luxury dinner at the industrial museum including a fun auction selling all 4 teacher's special edition pens. My set has a new warm home and was purchased by nice lady from Switzerland :)
Staedler's team did everything they possibly can to make us feel comfortable, gave their full attention to every detail, made sure we are enjoying good food, music and an entertaining show.

Teachers Pens Sets - Auctioned
The following day was once again packed with workshops, group photos and a closing ceremony, giving the students fancy certificates signed by all teachers and organizers.

Did I say already I enjoyed every minute?
I had an amazing weekend, met lots of new and old friends and what's important, enjoyed seeing my students smiley face when they finished their cute little purses, some of them already placed them on their bag as a decoration.
There is something about the "together" atmosphere that fills your heart with joy forgetting for a minute all the laundry, dishes and sleepless nights.
Working...
Saskia Veltenaar and Marjon Donker
from the Netherlands
Learning new things, improving your skills, helping simplify things, discovering a new trick,  or even exchanging ideas for Christmas gifts!
Having fun :)
I had one student, a beginner with polymer (3 months), she could not believe she will be able to make "that complicated purse". In the end of the class she said she is so happy with the results, now she feels much confident to make her family Christmas gifts.

Staedtler's Main Courses Room
The CASINO
So thank you my dear students and thank you Staedtler for making this happen. I am looking forward to my next trip to Maryland, US, having fun with more Brocade purses, meeting old and new friends on CFCF.
Teaching (with a smile)

More photos are posted in my facebook, you are welcome to take a look.
