So here I am at home while my daughter is in the US planning to see the yearly Halloween parade in Manhattan! I'm so jealous!! :)

Tall tales, Caroline McFarlane-Watts, is a master in polymer clay "witch" craft ;) well, not real witchcraft... lol

She creates beautiful magical scenes using animals, witches and other legendary creatures.

These 'tall tales' are told using scale miniature sets, hand-sculpted characters, illustrations and visual effects. From the concept artwork, the storyboards, elaborate sets, character sculpts and original scripts - everything is created in-house. 

Her work as a miniaturist is featured and sold in 40+ countries and has been exhibited in China as well as the US.

Geometric and colour are always a perfect match. The Singapore "Lorem Ipsum" store is all about basic shapes incorporated together to create a harmony of design.

In publishing and graphic design, lorem ipsum (derived from Latin dolorem ipsum, translated as "pain itself") is a filler text commonly used to demonstrate the graphic elements of a document or visual presentation. There is a lot of calm colour "filling" in these pleasant designs.

In a 180 degrees turn, this site is for the strong at heart -

Morgan Loebel (aka, Morgans Mutations) makes creatures, monsters and mutated things out of polymer clay. He is using switch plates or phone cases as his canvas to sculpt his monstrous, horrifying teethed creatures. 

Most of them are not dentists friendly although Morgan has a long career as dental laboratory technician! Yes!

He uses paints, epoxy as well as polymer clay in his art. His shop is currently closed but you can see more of his work in the "sold" section. Wooooaaaa!

To finalise our post with a scent of halloween here is Tim from "Coffins and shovels".

Coffins, shovels, zombies, spooky stuff, sculptures, Halloween props and other cool stuff are Tim's work. He mention that he has laser beams instead of eyes ;) Why not? 

Tim creates small and large pieces. I'm guessing he uses super sculpey on the smaller ones and other materials on his large sized sculptures but I may be wrong.

Hilla Bushari Magical transfer papers - Use your own photos, transfer them onto paper & clay! FREE video tutorial

I met Hilla Bushari many years ago in a polymer clay guild event, back when we both started working with polymer clay (10 years ago? but who's counting :).
Since then each turned to her own path but from time to time we share knowledge and discuss polymer matters.

After sharing a great success with the “Cosmic Ceramic” tutorial, we talked again and realized we can work together but in a different way of sharing.

While I was working on my INKredible Polymer class using alcohol inks, I got several samples of Hilla’s printed transfer paper.
What will I tell you people! The colors, the beautiful patterns!
If you ever wanted any photo, print, logo or surface technique on your clay – these papers are at your service.

So I played with the papers, adding inks, stamps, laser transfers, stencils – anything goes!
Then I added some macramé knotting around it - loved the result.

Yes, I know what you’re thinking – placing a transferred image onto clay is using polymer mearly as a background medium and not as a role player; Well, you're right in a way, but sometimes it's just what we need!

How do you work with the papers?
Simple – either order blank papers and print them yourself (ink printer, not laser), OR, purchase one of her ready-made printed papers with endless beautiful designs.

Place the sheet face down on your rolled fimo clay, attach well, wait 20-30 minutes, release the paper and that’s it! Quick and easy!

Hilla’s transfer papers are currently made to work with Fimo clay brand only but I’m sure that in the future there will be a solution for other clay brands as well.

These papers are a wonderful solution to transfer your own drawings, patterns and even photos to the paper, print and transfer onto polymer clay.

Polymeri Online 11.10.15 | Peanut portraits, Grimoire polymer magic, Corpse Bride tutorial & Animals 'clay' Kingdom

In the spirit of the upcoming Halloween here is some holiday magic -

Steve Casino is a worldwide known artist who uses peanut shells to create his figurines.

You can imagine how much work (and patience) the creation of such an art piece takes. He mentions 20 hours only for the sculpturing, not including the preparing of the peanut.
You can see a glimpse into his process in his Facebook page and although I couldn't find a specific mention of polymer, after asking him about it he said he does. He is using our medium as a base colour (flesh) then placing in the oven for baking before painting.
In his story video he mentioned "wood filler" to smooth the peanut surface.
He also sculpts figures (foil armature) inside tins, boxes or other leftovers objects which get new life with his work.
I wonder who eats all the peanuts he takes out of the shells... I'm crazy about nuts :)

Valeria is the founder and designer of the "The Black Hen Grimoire"/ "Grimoire La poule noire" studio. I love the Corpse Bride movie. SugarCharmShop (Tanja) YouTube channel is demonstrating Emily from the movie. The tutorial hypnotising! (as well as her soft voice)
Tanja is 24 years old, her education was a 'sales assistant' but currently she is a full time artist/YouTuber.
