Polymer Clay Bangle by Melody Tallon

Australian artist Melody Tallon posted her black and white polymer clay bracelet using bulzeye canes on a wooden bangle blank.
she used slices of the canes, pushed onto the white surface in organic groupings, then, the whole piece was cured. Later, she used a permanent marker to color the black outlines and made the dalmatian-like spots. Love B&W.

It's been a while since i posted some links, i find myself doing so many things and in the same time not doing enough! i have so many plans and so many things i want to finish by the end of this month and i can't figure a way to do it... time management? i think i heard this expression some where... :)

In Synergy i saw Sophia Lenz’ polymer robots and i loved them! they were so handsome, i googled for some more polymer clay robots and found some cool robotic friends -

Robots by HerArt SheLoves - all kind of sweet robots such as bunnies, round and square ones, each have their own personality, they look like a toy with their springy arms and legs but they are certainly a piece of art to put on your shelf or table :)

One more - sleepy robots by Lisa starchild Pinkston which makes adorable small robots, her mission is to spread the idea that clay figures can be just as detailed and collectable as vinyl designer toys, and they are handmade which make them the ultimate collectors item - she is so right!

And speaking of Synergy etc, I met Julie Eakes while she was holding a big big cane in her hands, when asking her what cane was it, she said it's a new cane she made for the event - CFCF (her cane was hidden inside leftovers so i couldn't peek), anyway, i was a good girl and waited patiently for the final result and ... OMG, that was an amazing face cane! she is the master! both me and Mira were lucky enough to get a piece of it, and i immediatly made myself a pair of beautiful earings out of them! browse her blog and you'll be amazed by her millefiori work.

Finally home!

Those were the best 2 weeks! i had so much fun! NYC, CFCF & Synergy!

Both Mira Krispil (the best partner ever) and myself flew to NYC on the 16th and had great 3 days of shopping, so many great stores in this city - cookie cutters, acrylic rollers, paints, beads & findings - that was fun! Metalliferous was the hightlight of the day, and our suitcases slowly gained weight and we were filing them with goodies :)

Then we took a flight and head to Baltimore airport and from there to CFCF - Cabin Fever Clay Festival held in Laurel Maryland. Kathryn Ottman greeted everyone and the event started with some Pre-Classes, we took classes by Lindly Haunani , Maggie Maggio and Jana Benzon. all of them were facinating and we made beautiful pieces.

After 2 days of Pre-Classes, the 4 hours CFCF seminars started and we had so much fun the best teachers - Jeffrey Lloyd Dever, Nan Roche, Cindy Silas, Tony Aquino, Maureen Carlson, Dayle Doroshow, Grant Diffendaffer, Louise Fischer Cozzi, Laurie Mika, Kathryn Jo Ottman, Lisa Pavelka, Sarah Shriver, and Ronna Sarvas Weltman. Demo's and Classes were facinating and we learned so much from all those experts.

The closing night celebration brought the presentation of the first Creative Pioneer and Innovator Award, presented to Nan Roche. Jeffrey Dever spoke of the knowledge and inspiration he gained from Nan in his early days playing with clay, I felt it was an exciting and emotional moment, everybody were cheering for Nan. The silent auction was great and i got one of Jana's pins :)

I was so honored when Nan asked to buy one of my disc necklaces! thank you so much Nan!
We found some new friends and angels who helped us (Barb - that's you!) hugging everybody, sorry we had to say goodbye so soon.

Then we headed to Synergy2 conference held in the tremont Plaza @ Baltimore, meeting new friends. Plan was so full of seminars, panel discussions, polymer shopping for supplies and artwork and jewelry, can we skip buying something?

We couldn't skip the ACC - American Craft Council show , The American Craft Council Show presents outstanding works by America's leading craftspeople for purchase by the public and to the trade, lot's of color, materials and inspiration, Mira and myself walked for 4 hours and still we didn't see all of it, it's huge! we met the nicest Wiwat with his breathtaking jewelry, Louise Fischer Cozzi (which we also took a class with her on CFCF), Karyn Kozak and her beautiful bugs (got us 2 of them!), Sue Fleischer, Karin Noyes and many more.

I also got a mention in Polymer Clay Daily! Sweet Cynthia Tinapple took a photo of one of my Necklaces and posted it in her blog. That was a perfect closure for our trip.

2 weeks of pure polymer clay, isn't that just the best thing ever?

Now, back to work! Passover holiday is coming soon and i should be getting ready :)

This year's Synergy conference looks so interesting! CFCF & Synergy - I'm Home

I'm Home, after a long trip of almost 17 hours on the road, but this is worth every minute. This post will be full of superlatives because I can't find the words to express what I've been and seen this past week.

It's started at CFCF (Cabin Fever Clay Festival at Laurel Maryland) with a funny and intriguing Nan Roche class, the title was "Faux Cinnabar: working with Japanese Kashigata and Polymer Clay", using 100 years molds, and after about 5 hours we went to bed all happy and anxious for our next day.

Second day started with Maureen Carlson class - "Tool Troll", sculpturing a troll using our hands and some cool silicon molds, we found out that a troll (since no one seen one recently) can have lot's of interesting characteristics, for example: i found out that mine had 2 left hands...! can you argue with that? How do you know trolls don't have 2 left hands? but i will not give up, i did some pinching and got his fingers back in place :) and Maureen? She's a magical as her beautiful art, the sweetest lady with perfect hands for sculpturing. My troll is not yet finished forgive him for his underwear appearance....

At noon we had the great Jana with her amazing kaleidoscopes, giving us the perfect class and those perfect handouts, preparing the class to the finest details! Since i am a millefiori fan i enjoyed every minute (but again, didn't have time to finish my piece!)

Evening Class was the one i needed after a long long day, something to wake myself :) - Christie Freisen! Making an Australian beautiful flower was a recommendation but since i had so much laugh with my classmates Kathy and Debra my flower doesn't really resemble the one i was asked to do...but! i did finish this piece! Kisses Christie!!

The last class was Tuesday morning - Julie Picarello - the cutest sweet person! her Mokume Gane is amazing, the class was well presented and although i chose a strange color set i was pleased and happy to learn from such a talented artist (and couldn't resist buying 2 of her pieces).

Tuesday night included also a Pajama Party, a silent auction and a zipper puller swap!
I had the great time and send lot's of kisses to my new friends - my dearest roommate Kathy Elrick, Debra Davis, Barbara Forbes-Lyons, Karen, Julie and Katie from Alaska, Emi Fukushima, Kim Korringa, and many more! We had a blast!

So...Moving forward to Synergy 2008 in Baltimore, i was offered a ride with Julie Picarelo and navigating was a challenge! We had some good laughs!
In case you need a reminder, Synergy is a national guild event, a "pasta machine free" class from the top artists from all over the world. Some of the people i heard were Kathleen Dusteen, Lindly Haunani, Judy Kuskin, Judy Dunn, Seth Savarick, Alev Gozonar, Dan Coremier with Tracy Holmes, Elise Winters, Jeff Dever, Robert Dancik, Carol Duval, Cynthia Tinnaple, Kim Cavender, Judy Belcher, Maggie Maggio and many more!
In one (or maybe few) words - Outstanding & overwhelming!

Beyond Craftsmanship, business and design issues other issues like inspiration, originality, infringement, production vs. ooak, standards were discussed in panel discussions, interesting points were raised and we tried figuring what are the future steps or future art will look like with the help of Cynthia Tinnaple great presentation - we got a fascinating review of what's next.

And how can i miss mentioning meeting some of my Etsy guild (PCAGOE) - Kira and Ilysa, Bettina, Elisabeth and more!
Rob and Wilma from Polymer Clay Express, Melanie West (which made us all laugh at the gala dinner with a scary camping story) - such an adventure!

As you see my "spongy" parts absorbed so much information, there is so much to think about and i am ready to move on.

I had the greatest time, beside the educational part i met new dear friends which will stay close to my heart,

Well, i am about to get my suitcase(s) ready so i should really log off from my computer, otherwise i would'nt have any clothes to change when i arrive to New York! :)

Happy birthday to me :)

I just celebrated my 36th birthday yesterday! 3rd of November, and as a gift i ordered my flight ticket to my US trip:)

I will arrive at 13th February 2008, stay a little in NYC and then fly to Baltimore to join Cabin Fever Clay Festival 2008 and right after attent Synergy2008.

So, i'm ready! too bad i have to wait for another 3.5 months...counting the days!

Synergy 2008 - I'm coming!

I am SO excited, i've just registrated to Synergy 2008 conference, held in Baltimore, Maryland, on Feb. 21-23, 2008, the 3 days schedule looks fascinating, i will take classes with 9 of the amazing people in the polymer clay industry! i hardly believe it, and i will start counting the days! :)
Long flight from Israel but i can't wait to see you all there!
