life has a funny way sneaking up on you.
I find it more and more difficult to find time to do my favourite things these days (blogging, claying more).
Becoming a vegan 3 months ago (along with 2 family members) demands its adjusting and more kitchen time.
I lost 10 kg due to this change and added physical activity to strengthen my muscles and body.
Being 43 demands maintenance!... :)
Too bad we have only 24 hours a day (or maybe we're lucky to have just 24?)...you'll decide.

BUT!
I did have the opportunity to work with clay the previous weekend, with a wonderful group of ladies from the Netherlands - Skyscraper beads and Brocade-Cosmic purses.

New Samples were created to adjust the combination and techniques mix. 

I called it "When Brocade Collection purses met Moon Rock beads", adding flowers and other inclusions. 

It's incredible how fun it is to mix tutorials, blend materials, "stir" techniques and create a completely different project every time - chalks, paints, pastes, powders, eye shadows, sponges, oil pastels, with just a bit of imagination (and trial) it all combine in a perfect harmony.

Don't be afraid to experiment!

The Dutch guild ladies were so creative with their Skyscraper & Cosmic Brocade purses projects, 4 different surface effects were introduced in the class and each student took her favourite technique and created a purse out of it (or 2, or 3!).

As always my classes are free of boundaries. 

I love to see how my students take a technique or an idea to their own creative voice. Even the same materials, instructions and steps, looks different in any artist hand. (Don't tell anyone but sometimes I see my students creativity and ask myself "how I didn't think of that?!" ;)

Asia's scarf brooch

Burkamus - Asia Kuzahmetova got a very unexpected requested for a scarf brooch. Having limited silhouettes of Scottish Terrier she decided to give it a try and the final result is oh so charming!
Asia lives in Dnipropetrovsk (Ukraine) and creates in various polymer clay techniques.
I especially liked her beautiful colourful cats beads!

Pilar's rainbow giraffe

As the admin of the Flickr millefiori cane group I sometimes find fun and colourful canes. Here is Spanish artist Pilar's rainbow giraffe cane. what a fun cane! Locker room hit

Jen Cruz posted a super cute polymer clay key and lock design in her Facebook page.
This project was created for a "Sweet Pairings" Challenge entry and I am sure it will be a hit in her locker room!
Jen is the owner of "purple luggage" - her polymer clay and crafts business, she is a dog-loving & crafty musician and has been working with polymer clay since the mid-90's.

She mostly love doing millefiori canes, faux surfaces, miniature animals and sculpting and also loves covering things and probably cover her dogs if they would only sit still!

Finally got my contributor copy of Lark's "1000 Beads" book!
I am honoured to be a part of this beautiful collection of beads and talented artists featured in the book.
There are quite a lot polymer clay artists and beads curated in the book, some of them I didn't know by name (and I remember MANY polymer clay artists names!).
This publication is great news for the polymer clay community! Let us spread the word and keep upgrading our medium!

Christmas Polymer Clay Projects! How-to Collection to some of my favorite holidays tutorials!

Finally we got some rain and cold this weekend, the past week was pratically summer with 30 Celsius (!) and it seems like winter will never come.
Israel's winters are notoriously known for their short period, it's funny that we even sell winter cloths, 1 month top and it's back to flip flops...

Spinning tree ornament

and of course the recent How to spinning ornament made of strips of polymer clay, baked and painted.
You don't have to use an extruder for this project, you can also roll your sheets flat in the pasta machine and cut them manually, or use the fettuccine rollers to cut them wider.
Don't work with too thin strips so it won't break when you drill it.

Back from Cabin Fever Clay Festival 2013 - USA Trip

and I am back!
Cabin Fever Clay Festival 2013 is over, It was a wonderful gathering of ~80 great polymer clay minds, all together happy and smiling (polymer fumes?! ;) creating unforgettable moments.

Once again I feel that there is something magical about people sitting together, talking with such enthusiasm about their polymer clay joy, 24/7, chatting about what makes them happy and color their world, even for an hour or two a week. You don't have to be a pro to enjoy such an event.
I had the pleasure of meeting so many new people, from all over US and beyond, introducing them to my own personal polymer clay world.
My dear students did a wonderful job creating their little master pieces, enjoying their time learning a trick or two, and teaching me some of their own too!
5 Full days. I had so much fun.

Fireman on alert!

And some funny moments - Apparently some one lit a candle inside one of the rooms and the whole hotel was evacuated outside, waiting for the Fire department to come and check it out (guess where I was when the bell rang? Yes, in the shower ;)
Traveling all the way to Polymer Clay Express with Mira Pinki Krispil and Jana Roberts Benzon, what a fun drive we had;
Shopping with Linda Hess in "Michaels", "Hobby Lobby" and where not! How can we can't miss these when we're here!
Staedtler North America donated all the materials used in my Skyscraper and Brocade Purses classes - That was such an amazing gift! Thank you!

And Finally, few more days in NYC with Pinki for re-stocking and breathing cold (real cold!) air just before we take our plane back.

So thank you Kathryn Ottman for this wonderful event that ticks like a clock, perfectly every time! Seeing Christian in person was one of the highlights moments! :)
