Ivana Brožová had a competition asking her Czech Republic friends & voters to guess which texture she used in her pendant.
The voters tried their best and.... the right answer was - a Litchi fruit peel texture!
Nature sure is pretty to capture in polymer! such a creative idea. The winner - Katka V. won the necklace!

| Desiree's cracks tutorial |
Desiree is one of the artists I enjoyed learning from, in my first days as a polymer clay artist (then a hobbyist). These days she posted a tutorial for created cracked clay using a heating gun.
In this technique you are half-curing a sheet of clay and then rolling it in the pasta machine to create hard, deep cracks.
Inspired by techniques she found online by several artists, Desiree is giving us her own tries, angle and tips on the technique, using concentrated heat in a specific shape (table spoon) or a perforated ladel. Very inspiring!
Sometimes I truly think we are working in a chemistry lab and not a polymer clay art studio! :)

Sandrartes posted another fun idea for using a heating gun with cracks, in a cute lizard project. She uses acetone (!) to dry the clay and then uses a heating gun over it to half-cure it. The cracks were placed over an un-cured polymer clay sheet and stretched manually.
I love the cheerful music too!
Sandra also posted a video tip for using very dry polymer clay. She is baking the clay, breaking it into pieces and then placing it all in a food processor to receive a granulated powder. great!

Another future chemistry pro is Elsie Smith, who is posting her beauties on Facebook. Although not the first using this material with polymer, she is definitely doing wonders with it.
French origin "Fantasy Prisme Pebeo paint" looks innocent at first sight but after you start blending it with additional colours or as a single colour, it starts dividing like cells creating a beautiful 3D, deep effects of faux texture!
The final look of this paint is very shiny which is another advantage!
I am not sure whether you should apply this colour on baked or raw clay but I would guess baked. Elsie mentioned in her Facebook that she is sealing her pendants with Varathane floor finish and then adding the paint so I am guessing again - baked clay.

20 women from the Israeli polymer clay guild gathered together to create 20 colorful pouches, good food was on the menu and cheerful mood too.
We started the class with choosing the colors for our pouches, prepared the base hemispheres and textured the clay with the brocade design using "good old" eye shadows (Yes! don't throw them away! they are great on polymer).
