Giveaway! Dora the explorer canes!

Last year i made a HUGE size dora the explorer cane, it was a special request from my 2 sweet little nieces and i made so many items from it, but... the cane keeps hanging around and it simply refuse to end!! The 2 girls are now grown up and i can give it away :)

So I thought, why won't i ask some of you guys/girls if you need some?
well, if you want to recieve a free 2 inch cane of Dora's, i invite you to leave a comment with your favorite color mixing recipe of polymer clay, from you own polymer clay "cookbook", just tell us which brand, what colors, how many from each color and what is the final result :) this can be a good resource for other people as well!

I love color mixing!!!
I’ll select 2 random winners in my weekly thursday post of polymerionline!

Let's hear you!

  1. I love color mixing too. Am really into primary & secondary colors mixed with metallics, especially green and gold. I use Kato, 1/3 metallics and 2/3 color.

  2. I mix colors all the time and unfortunately I do it rather randomly - which means it's sometimes impossible to repeat them.
2 favorite mixes I have are metallics and all Premo:
1:1 Pearl Blue and Gold make a delightful and strong teal and 1:1:1 Pearl, Pearl Blue and Silver is a lovely *Ice-blue*

  4. Hello Iris, your work is amazing. I used to make things from Polymer clay as a child all the time. My husband recently bought me a bracelet with Millefiori beads on it and it has renewed my enthusiam so I went out yesterday and bought 6 colours of Fimo. I did a search on 'fimo ideas' and found you. I've not got into colour mixing just yet but I'm sure I will. I love your dora cane, it's so cute and my two children both love Dora. Emma xx

  5. I love color mixing too and don't always keep records as I should.
Here's a favorite I keep in my mix:

Equal parts of white pearl and silver metallic. (I use Kato clay.)
You can use this as a "base" to make any plain color sparkle by mixing a plain color into this half and half.

  6. Hi Iris!
I don't really have my own colour recipies. I use Maggie Maggio's method for creating a clay pallette. My favorite colour of the whole spectrum is very soft spring green, which can be obtained by mixing original green with a lot of yellow, or turquoise with yellow.

  15. Hi Iris!
I love my orange mix, that I used for "Indian Summer Necklace" - I used Fimo Classic, 1 part of No 21(magenta), 32 parts of 1 (yellow) and just a pinch of black. If you want more dulled color, ad a little more black. It is actually safer to mix gray instead of black - black is very intensive and you have to take care not to add too much. Enjoy!

  17. Lately I've only been using sculpey since I stocked up at a sale. I love the look of pearl white with the light metallic blue...creates a great sparkly pastel blue.

  19. goMy favorite color-mixing trick is with the Fimo glitter clays... red, blue and yellow/gold.

1 oz yellow Fimo glitter + 1/4-1/2 oz red Premo = an outstanding orange color.

1 oz blue Fimo glitter + 1 oz yellow premo = gorgeous green.

Actually, the color combos are endless using the Fimo glitters. Give them a try!

ps: add me to the "hat" for the drawing of the Dora cane. My 4yo granddaughter thinks she IS Dora!!

  20. My daughter and I love to mix the colors. More so, we like to blend them gently so they marble in mavelous multi-tones. Using Kato, white with pink and blue, we have come up with some cool results.
