Millefiori Slicer!

I saw this upgraded cane slicer at Randee M Ketzel flickr, this is her solution for thin and stable millefiori slicing. 
According to her, this tool makes slicing a whole lot less effort, and much more consistent and your blade won't wobble. worth a try!

Polymer Clay Orchid Flower Tutorial

Daria is from Kyiv, Ukraine and designs stuff as far as she remembers, first clothes and accessories for her dolls, fabric flowers, drawing, beading and so much more! she graduated from Fine arts school but choose another way and has PhD in molecular biology. Now, as a stay at home mom, she finds the time to create jewelry, some with polymer clay.

These earrings by PeachTreats made me take a 2nd look. At first, I couldn't find how to insert them into the ear, then I realized, that she makes earrings for both gauged ears and for regular pierced ears. if you aren’t sure what she means by “gauged ears”—that is when the earring hole is stretched. They are all made of polymer clay!

Elsita posted an interesting tutorial on using both paper and polymer to create an interesting pendant. She is tracing a drawing on paper, cutting and pressing the paper against the polymer to create an embossed design. Looks like a wonderful project!

Here is a fun memory game project, originally not created with polymer clay but we can do the same with clay. Take identical coins (use the smallest exchange you have) and glue on it a pre-baked polymer clay design that matches in size and color or pattern - 2 of each. Now you have a wonderful memory game to play with the children!

What Will Those Mosquitoes Do Next?

Ever wondered If it's possible to create very thin polymer clay beads and forms that are strong, durable, flexible and light weight?

Actually, It's (almost!) impossible!

Guess what?

I developed a special technique allowing YOU to create the impossible!

When we were building our home several years ago, I noticed that the builders used a simple technique of pouring concrete to form walls using a metal mesh inside to reinforce it.

I watched them, not realizing that one day I’ll be using another form of that technique on my polymer clay creations.

A few years later I was looking for something to help me create a thin yet strong polymer clay piece that will not break after the first time it falls out of my hand. This was the result of my dropping a few delicate polymer clay beads on the floor, and being very upset because they broke could not be repaired.

As you probably know, polymer clay does not handle breakage well, and it was not bad luck on my part having those beads shattered to pieces, just a disadvantage of polymer clay. A disadvantage that caused me and many polymer clay artists to avoid creating delicate and thin pieces.

This really got me thinking, I wanted to find a way around the problem, not to avoid it.

Eventually the technique the builders used crossed my mind.

Should i begin with a OT story? Normally my life are real peaceful, no "action" stories, but yesterday a hornet stinged me in my butt... yes, i know it sounds funny :) and i agree, but it's really uncomfortable to sit and clay now ;)

It happened while i was driving with my car windows open and she simply got in while i was driving and fell between my legs, when trying to get out of my car and getting rid of her, the %&*& just stuck her sting in my ... you know where...

in case you are wondering i feel fine now, nothing i won't survive :)

lesson to be learned - even though the air is cool and clear at 7am in the morning, never drive with your car windows open, you don't know who's gonna visit you.
