Special Giveaway! The Polymer Arts Magazine & The Brocade Collection
The Polymer Arts magazine, the new magazine on the block is about to publish it's 2nd issue, this time it's all about instruction & education with many new ideas, articles and content.
The 1st issue was so interesting, covering new articles that are informative both to pro and semi-pro polymer clay artists: articles such as how to become a wholesale seller, marketing skills and much more. I have the 1st issue next to my bed, with every page flip I find something new I haven't read before :)
The new and exciting feature is the digital subscription - -It's exactly the same as the print version, just in digital format! Digital purchasers receive a downloadable PDF file and, for the first 3 months after publication, have access to an online digital flipbook available from any computer.
Why am I telling you all this?
Getting ready to the 2nd issue with my "Brocade Collection" purses on the cover, dear Sage Bray has generously given you all a special giveaway!
3 of my PolymeriOnline blog readers will receive a digital subscription to the 1st and 2nd magazine issues. This means you will get instant access to the 1st issue and on Nov. 15th the new issue is published.
The 2nd issue is also full of inspiration and wonderful content - Christi Friesen talks about filling your “Well of Creativity”, Barbara McGuire discusses how to take advantage of and share the community’s Passion for Polymer through educating and being educated, Two brand new techniques, Review of new bezel molds, Interviews, Mentor and Emerging artist galleries
Resource list highlights...and more!
What do you have to do to win? (giveaway closed! thank you!)
All you have to do is post a comment under this post with your email and an answer to the question related to my purses photo -
..."What are the 2 things you MUST HAVE in your purse when you go somewhere?" :)
mirror? eye shadow? book? diary? polymer clay? (can't believe it if you do!)
My bag is always full full of "must have junk" & so heavy!!
Band aid, Advil pills, lip gloss, my "must have" hard drive with all the computer back up (in case my computer is lost) - you won't believe what I carry with me!
So now, tell me what's your "must have" 2 and maybe you'll win a free subscription!
OK, don't laugh. I carry a baggie with some Sculpey Mold Maker in it for the mold I might be lucky enough to run across when I'm out and about. You just never know. An empty sunglasses case (hard sides) protects my new "find". -Marlene

I always carry a clean pair of knickers - mother told me always to have a clean pair in case of an accident. I tuck them into an inside pocket along with a smallish polythene bag - very useful I would think, I don't really know because I have never needed either !!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLynne.norman1@gmail.com
I always have in my purse my cellphone, wallet and keys! And a lot more stuff lol.
ReplyDeletemy email: cindy.graveline@gmail.com
Hate to admit it, but first 2 things would be cigs and lighter--ugh. Would rather it be clay, for sure! Love the look of the magazine and especially your brocade purses, Iris!

I'm excited for this issue of Polymer Arts.
ReplyDeleteWomen's purses are so interesting. It's amazing what all you can fit in there. When I had children at home it was a real treasure chest of things they "needed" . Right now my two most important things are my cellphone and my wallet. Don't leave home without them. Retta6@aol.com
Ok maybe it is the nurse in me, but I always carry alcohol hand gel and painkillers!! I wish I'd had something in my purse to make a mold with the oth day when I saw a lovely 'face' on the bandstand in the park. A lesson learned ~~ now where is a small tub that will fit in my purse?

My friends all know .. I lose everything!! My husband is now my purse! He carries my license and cc cards, my business cards, and if I forget my phone, everyone knows to text or call Mark to get me! Now, I just have to make sure I don't lose him :)
ReplyDeletepatpearlman@yahoo.com
I never go anywhere without my debit &/or charge card! I guess for the second thing I would choose my phone or my coupon file or my "forever" nail file that my youngest decorated with clay for Mother's Day :-)
ReplyDeleteI was enthused by the first issue, well, I absolutely need a book and a pencil...
ReplyDeleteBye,
Margit

Ok it looks like I'm in the minority here. My purse is very small. It holds my wallet and a pen. In my wallet I have a smaller wallet that holds just my drivers licence and my credit card. Sometimes I just take it with me. So, my must have things are credit card and DL.
ReplyDeleteI don't include my iphone because it is usually in my pocket. I carry it around the house with me.
I have never liked large purses so I am a pared down person to start with. I have found a solution to part of this by carrying a sketchbook & pencil in each vehicle along with my 'emergency kits' packed with things like hand lotion, alcohol wipes, bandaids, aspirin, etc. The two things I do tend to check for when leaving the house are a small tape measure and small screwdriver and sometimes my chapstick. Don't ask me why. It started long ago. I don't remember to check for things like keys, money, ID, and barely remember to take my purse. Go figure! gardlmf@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI Must have my "creative Junk" meaning my polymer clay, tools, and inspirational info (my treasury of books and magazines and oh so talented friends) and number two I must have my family (close and "adopted"--my artist family)...without those two things I would be lost...Thanks Iris for your talents and for the chance to share with more of my family...
ReplyDeleteI have to have my Purell Hand Sanitizer and my CoverGirl Outlast Lipcolor!
ReplyDeleteI stopped carrying a purse several years ago, so I just carry a thin wallet with driver's and insurance ID and debit card in a pocket. If I do carry a bag, however, there's always a notebook and pencil for ideas.
ReplyDeleteתמיד צוחקים עלי שיש לי בתיק הכל...

Hi
ReplyDeleteI always have my cell phone and coupon/rainchecks for Micheals in my purse. I never know when I plan to go to Micheals to pick up mor supplies. I try never to purchase any thing at full price. Micheals is great with their rainchecks...they never expire and I have them for Primo clay for $.99..can't beat that price. My cell phone is a needed in case I am so busy at Micheales looking for stuff so I can call my son-in-law when I am going to be a little late in getting back to watch my granddaughters.

2 must haves for me in my purse are my Blackberry and lipstick.
ReplyDeletesuelin@barkingcrow.ca
This is fascinating! so many things I didn't think I can carry in my purse!!! I think it's gonna be twice as heavy with all your ideas! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for participating!
Only 2 must haves? Well then it would be my I-phone (calls and photos) and my debit card.
ReplyDeleteBetteAbdu@gmail.com

ReplyDeletemy 2 must haves are a book (never leave home without a book....) and a tiny snowflake obsidian stone that a friend gave me and when things get tough I'm not sure if the stone is helping me but knowing that I have a good friend that cares for me and gave ti to me for protection makes me feel good again :)
ReplyDeletebeside these 2 must haves I also carry some business cards (mini moo) that have pictures of my work and a polymer clay covered pen, so I can show people what polymer clay is as when I talk about it many don't know what it is and what you can do with it :)
gom6699@yahoo.it
Iris, in the tiniest of bags a woman can carry i have to make sure I have lip balm and credit card! :) Actually that's all that can fit in my tiny bag.
ReplyDeletehugs from colorado!
Hey Iris! The 2 things that I must have are my phone and a notebook for any ideas that come to mind while I am out. I am always looking and thinking of different things to sculpt out of polymer clay;0)
ReplyDeleteEmail: traceydg@gmail.com
I love a large purse but my shoulder does not. so my main purse (with my Kindle, sketchbook, various other items) has a smaller purse inside it which has my money, checkbook, credit cards, iPod Touch (used for photos and notes) reading glasses, and phone. I make sure that the larger purse has a strap long enough to go across my body to distribute the weight more.
ReplyDeleteWhen traveling I have been known to carry polymer and some sculpting tools in my bag.
Thank you for the chance to win the magazines. I am very interested in them.
Hello
ReplyDeleteThe two things I must have are my bank card, and my epipen. I also carry a notebook, incase I see something I want and cant have it right away.

That's an easy question! I have to have my cell phone so I can take pictures of things I like such as books I want to buy or something that has a great color combo so I can try it with clay when I get home. The second thing has to be my debit card so I can buy something on the spare of the moment like anything that has texture.. tool,button,screw.. you name it, :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of big purses. Don't like to carry them, always afraid I will sit it down and leave it somewhere. So I usually just carry a small 3"x4" zippered cross body pouch with my credit card, drivers license and lipstick (of course)! And since paper doesn't take up much room, I always have coupons for Michael's and JoAnn's. Jeri at cougarridge2002@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteWell what I should always carry in my bag would be my cell phone, my wallet etc! However what most of the times is a MUST for me to carry in my bag are chewing gums, a mirror and a small notebook with a pen!!! My email is pixiesia24@windowslive.com
ReplyDeleteSo interesting to see everyones comments. For me it's a note pad and pen so I can write down useful things or doodle and design some jewellery, or play noughts and crosses with the kids when waiting around. My mobile phone - always have to have it, it's a lifeline!
ReplyDeleteWas just about to take out a subscription will hang on just in case I get lucky, things have been difficult for me lately so it must be coming up to my time for some nice things!
carajaneuk(at)gmail.com
I carry several notebooks, my debit card, and my drivers license. I carry my cellphone when it is activated LOL.
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of carrying moldmaker. We see beautiful designs and textures whenever we are out and about, and it would be wonderful to be able to make a quick mold.

I'm just starting out in my polymer adventures, I'd be interested in learning as much as I can. Two things I MUST have in my purse is my epi-pen and pictures of my kids.

ReplyDeleteLove your purse, I can't wait to see the article and how they open?
I carry my latest piece that I've made so I can look it over out in daylight and test for stability. I also carry my debit card so I can do more shopping for clay stuff! Lol
You may not believe this but I carry extra polymer clay earrings that I have made just encase I have the chance to sell some. Must be prepared. lol And my debit card.
ReplyDeletellgrow_2@msn.com
my Iphone, 4 lipglosses, pill bottle, and a paper clip....why a paper clip I have no clue, cause I don't have paper, a pencil or pen....but my tote bag for work is a whole other story.....I have beads, polymer clay, my iphone charger, candy and so much more.
ReplyDeletecheshirecat48@hotmail.com
Great reading! I've gone from big bags appointed with toys, undies, coupon wallets, etc. to the only "out to pick up groceries" purse. Small and efficient, money, ID, debit card, keys, comb, sucrose tablets and inhaler. I suppose things do change, right? Thank you for the opp, Iris!
ReplyDeleteBilli RS Rothove at billispaperbatiks@yahoo.com
There are not so many must have things in my purse.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I try to carry my key for my working room with me, because if I put it aut of the purse I definitly forget it the next day and can not enter my room for working the next day.
Another thing I need is a screw driver so I can srew out Knobs and other zhings from furniture that I find in the streets ready to throw away. I think this is the chaäpest way to get some things to cover with clay later.
Thanks for chance to win and thanks for your post.
My e-mail is info@svenja-lohse.de
I usually carry whatever I think I'm going to need, but two must-haves are my phone and a pencil (paper could be anything that you can write on but pencils are not as readily available). Oh, and I need a pencil because I am constantly forgetting things and if I write them down, I will remember them.
ReplyDeleteANotarainni@yahoo.com
I am a big bag kind of gal as I always like to be prepared, but if I had to pick two items, I would say my wallet and chapstick.
ReplyDeleteIf I could have two more it would be my digital camera and a small sketchbook.
cnikita2 at aol.com
Suzanne I always have to carry a diary as my memory isn't what it used to be and a screwdriver, you would be surprised how often that has been needed, LOL
ReplyDeletejstainsh@bigpond.com
Just TWO things...my iPhone (as it has apps on it that I can use to whip up designs for my next polymer project if I am inspired, and then e-mail them back to myself - no pencils or paper required!!) and my debit/credit card - just in case!
ReplyDelete(I occasionally DO take some polymer with me - if I have to ride the train for longer than a half hour to go somewhere, I bring clay to condition and "set up" for Skinner blends...)
Love your blog!
Lori
I carry my purse (with cards, licence, coupons etc) a tiny pad and pen, comb, gum, photos of my kids, rosary, cell phone. Two things i have to carry- my purse and pad with pen for jotting down ideas, phone numbers.
ReplyDeleteMy two must haves are a tube of lipstick and my drivers license.

My answer to the question is that I keep an itty-bitty multi-bit screwdriver and multi-pliers that fold up so they are only 2" long. I love taking apart small mechanical things to see the goodies inside! These are my MUST-HAVES.-Yvonne- bug95245@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI always carry a "big" purse, full of everything. I will get to that in a minute. If I could take only "2" things, and really be honest . . . let's face it, key chain with house & car keys, and my driver's license. But I'm in trouble aren't I? Where's the money if I want to buy something, and still there is no cell phone. Iris, if you would have asked what "4" things you must have in my purse, . . . I would have been sitting pretty. HA!
ReplyDeleteNow if you wanted to really know what is always in my purse, that I can't live without . . . well, you would have to carry the answer over into your next giveaway.
Oh and P.S. -- The reason I carry a big purse is I am always prepared and everyone knows it: Debbie do you have a pen, a piece of paper, a Tic-Tac, some Advil, a kleenex, a safety pin, a mirror, some gum, a cough drop, a can of tuna, . . . must I go on? :-)
I always have a photo camera in order to take photos at any time and any where.I also have my phone because I 'm a mam of four children and they must find me quickly...

Unfortunately, my "must-haves" are not so glamorous. I don't leave home without my house keys (not intentionally, anyway!) and a little cash (since there may be a place where debit cards aren't accepted... and it may placate a potential mugger). See, I *told* you that they weren't so glamorous!

Can't leave home without my phone and lip gloss. Of course my wallet but that would be 3 things. I'm so excited about this new magazine! Looking forward to polymer clay art not just crafts. sharpartbydawna@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI absolutely must have my lipstick, and I also must have my little sketchbook and a pencil or pen. I feel naked without the one, and incompetent without the other (not saying which is which, either).

2. Credit cards!! :-)

ReplyDeleteTwo things for the purse. Hmmmmmm. Depends how big, but would be
Drivers Liscense and
my Credit Card.
Then I'd make sure I wore something with pockets and cram them with Cell Phone which my very caring husband (our one year aniversary was yesterday) makes sure is charged and with me, 3 Excedrine Migrain capsules, my slim camera to capture, among other things, possible polly clay patterns, and finally a plastic baggie for goddies I find to make patterns in the clay.
Gum is optional. Hmmm, I really could slim down my duffel bag.
Thanks Iris! :}}
